Re: QWAK,If you have to take in people this could help
I have lived in these tents for weeks at a time while in the military. Excellent insulation and can even be comfortable with a small stove or even an electric space heater. Korea was a great place to see how well they work. A slightly elevated wooden floor with straw under it also helps keep in the warmth. Keep the ground flaps flat on the ground and put sandbags and dirt around the edges for stability, light discipline and keeps the drafts down to a minimum.

Re: QWAK,If you have to take in people this could help
i lived in a similar wall tent one winter. woodstove was routed thru a salvage refrig door out the side of the 10x12 tent. was a great experience. with the fullsize stove going the landowner kept complaining when visiting- that it was warmer than his house.
snow was trouble when i was gone; other than that & drainage during spring rains- solved with making a floor with pallets. it was very cozy. i had a herd of deer that kept coming by at daybreak so one night i left the front wide open & got to watch from my bed for 30 min., eating, washing/drinking in the creek ;generally being frisky- bout 30 degrees. my plan for folks moving to our place is them to get rv's, trailors etc.- pennies on the dollar [ though one person is shopping for a bus/greyhound currently]. & if i have too that tent is in the basement. |

I'm not surprised you like them so much--look at the fabric they're made from!*
